Watch out for the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia if you're planning to or driving through the region! These are an amazing spectacle! The Lakes are truly beautiful and visitors are allowed to walk on wooden pathways over and through these divine pools of water.
Unfortunately for the individual bathing is not allowed, fortunately for the all of us as the waters are as clear as the Himalayan air. Another 'con' to the park is its overdevelopment.
We almost ALMOST drove around this spectacular spec of world heritage: Meteora. The region is known for its spectacular rock outcrops also know as "the column to the sky". The stars of the show are the Monasteries. If you're rolling through Greece on your great adventure we at Lone Galloper want you to go and see this reservoir of awe inspiring architecture. Halkidiki Peninsula offered us a straight 5 hours of voluntary off-roading and an industrial dose of greek coffee. The peninsula is easily accessible through a main road and is pupulated by dirt roads and plenty of small, dirty beaches. Apart from this gem of a beach:
