Here are a few words about myself.
I was born in New York (NY) to Italian parents. As a family we lived in various countries and cities such as New York, Amsterdam, Milan and London. We settled in Rome, Italy in the early 2000's. I kept on roaming going to schools in different countries, or even just changing schools as I was in Rome (much fun). If there is one thing I can say it's that I don't feel like I have a home in particular. I love travelling. I have spent most of my years travelling and moving around. I feel very, very American in almost every sense, and many of the people I meet tell me so. Nonetheless I am Italian. And yes, I take pasta and wine seriously. I love a good meal. I can focus on two main points: what I love doing and a life changing event that shook me up and shaped me into the person I am today. |
I work in the movie industry and I absolutely love it. I am an Assistant Director who has had the opportunity to work on major studio movies, some of which some of you may know. I consider myself privileged because I figured out early on what I wanted to do with my life and managed to take the first steps to a very high summit.
I have a passion for Film, traveling, nature, motors and the outdoors. Funnily enough I get to work in those environments with a whole shabang of cool toys, explosions, fast cars and helicopters. However that's not enough.
If you take all of my passions and roll them up into one tasty burrito you'd call it: "Overlanding". Overland is the solution to taking care of all the things I am passionate about and that is what I dedicate all the free time I possibly can to.
I hope I will have the time and opportunity to explore this vast world we share, with all its beauties, cultures, landscapes and challenges via overland.
Having said that...I used to be a hyper athletic young man. I played rugby at high levels, I did my first 13,000+ft (4228m a.s.l) summit aged 15, was very proficient catamaran sailor and practiced or tried out every sport I could. I proudly admit I was and am terrible a soccer (football).

In 2009 I was diagnosed with a Cavernous Angioma. In english it's a malformation of a or a group of veins, in my case presenting stages of micro-bleeding. The Angioma was in my brain and I had to receive surgery to have it removed. The risk being: if the veins gave way death was highly probable. I woke up after a few days in a coma to find the left side of my body symmetrically paralysed.
I now walk, can squeeze a quick 'jog' in and recovered my gross arm and hand movements. It took the best of 18 months to get out of the wheel chair. To this day I continuously work on my body and mind, I push my limits millimeter by millimeter to regain what mobility I lost, to be able to live at the fullest. It has taught me many, many things amongst which perseverance, patience and a totally different outlook on my life. It made me who I am today; and I am by no means perfect.
I am reminded by the books I read, songs I listen to and films I watch that there are people out there in this world, ordinary people, doing extraordinary things. And I humbly try to be able to live such a way of life. The same way I hope that my life will serve to inspire others, and that my mistakes will become lessons for those after me.
I love sayings, motto's and mantras. Taken with a grain of salt they always speak the truth. One helped me fight for what was mine, and persevere for what I want from my future. But that'll be for another day...
